In Santa Clarita Valley this is a compliance-shaped option, not a portable-exchange substitute if you actually want soft water. Pentair’s training notes (the same company that makes Fleck valves) are unusually blunt: mineral content remains, the water is not softened, and dirty or sulfurous water is a poor fit.
